FFC2024 - Baptism

First Free Church offers baptism for those who have believed the Gospel and have evidenced a testimony of Christian faith, regardless of age (Mark 16:16; Romans 10:9). It is neither a requirement for salvation nor church membership. However, we encourage believers (Acts 2:37-38; I Peter 3:21) in obedience to Christ's command (Matthew 28:18-20, I Peter 2:21; Mark 1:9-11) to receive baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19), symbolizing their identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:1-14), being baptized into one body (I Corinthians 12:13), the church, and now living for Jesus.

Baptisms at First Free typically occur during our Sunday morning worship services. At the appropriate time, those scheduled for baptism come forward to the platform and share a brief testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ. After some simple questions from our pastors and a prayer offered by a designated friend or family member, our pastors will baptize them with water by immersion.

If you are a Christian with a sincere profession of faith in Jesus Christ and would like to receive baptism during a worship service at First Free Church, our next opportunity will be Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. Please contact our church office, and a staff member will follow up.
