Advent at First Free

It's Advent! From the Latin, Adventus, meaning "coming," Advent is the four-week season of prayerful preparation leading up to our celebration of Christ's birth over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem. During Advent, the First Free Church Family will commemorate and celebrate our Lord's birth in many exciting ways!

On Sundays, our pastors will share a sermon series entitled "Worthy: A Savior Worth Celebrating!" In addition, we will fill the Advent season with special holiday music, including a performance by our children's choir, readings, and more.

The women of First Free will gather for a time of fellowship at our Women's Christmas Tea on Sunday, December 5, from 2-4 pm. Register on our church website!

Also, don't miss our annual Christmas Fest event (previously Live Nativity) on Friday, December 10 & Saturday, December 11, from 7–9 pm. We have fun for the whole family, including a live nativity, live animals petting zoo, Kidzone Carnival, family photos, indoor music & light show. Come and bring your neighbors!

This year, we're adding something new to our Advent: a "Blue Christmas" gathering (December 19, 3–5:30 pm). This gathering will blend elements that remember the hope of Jesus Christ at Christmas even as we acknowledge the sorrow many people feel at this time of year. The Blue Christmas gathering will be a quiet time of reflection and remembrance using various Scripture passages and gentle music. Following the gathering, there will be cafe fellowship with light refreshments.

And, of course, make plans now to join us for Christmas Eve at First Free on December 24 at 5:00 pm! We're planning a beautiful service of readings and Christmas carols by candlelight.

Merry Christmas!
