Worship Arts

Worship at FEFC

Corporate worship is a crucial defining activity for the Body of Christ. God's people come together to join their hearts and voices in praise of God for His greatness and in thanks for His goodness. Worship is our response to God for who He is and what He has done for us in Christ Jesus.

Our focus is not on what we get, but rather on what we give. Our aim is to be consistently and uncompromisingly God-centered and Christ-exalting in our corporate worship at the First Free Church.

We come to celebrate with joy our relationship with God through Christ, yet we come reverently in recognition of the glory and majesty of the One who calls us to serve Him.

We strive for worship which involves the entire congregation as active participants, as a true corporate expression of the unity of Christ's Body. To this end, we seek to blend historical and new elements of worship expression and to find common ground on which all the generations can join in worship of the Audience of One.

Worship Arts Ministry

The Worship Choir and Band/Orchestra is the hub of the music ministry. They are highly dedicated servants of Jesus Christ who enjoy a major role in leading the congregation in worship during both Sunday services. There are always openings in the choir and orchestra for faithful people who have a sweet attitude and a passion to use their musical talents and gifts for the Lord.

Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:15 until 8:45 PM and are enjoyable, instructive, and inspiring. Anyone may visit rehearsal in the Auditorium to experience a taste of what it is like to be a part of the music ministry community at FEFC. The Band meets for rehearsal in the Auditorium at 6:15 PM; the Orchestra at 7 PM.

We also offer a graded Children’s Choir which meets weekly during school months.

Our Handchime ensemble is for mixed ages and meets Sunday evenings at 7:30 PM.

Our Drama ministry presents a musical pageant around Easter every other year.

Our ministry also involves faithful volunteers who run sound, data projection and video record our service for broadcast on local cable stations.

As a corporate ministry, we strive to commit to the following:

  • The growth of the artist in every area of life. (Matthew 22:37, Philippians 3:10)
  • The creative process as a privilege.
  • Excellence as a common pursuit. (Ephesians 4:1, Colossians 3:17)
  • Artistic exploration while remaining faithful to Biblical truth. (I Tim. 2:15-17)
  • Collaboration in gracious environment. (Philippians 4:5, 7)
